Cantaloupe Smoothie

The cantaloupe have been so great this summer, particularly this last month – super sweet “like candy” as Max likes to say. We’ve been eating two to three a week, packing it in lunches and serving it as a side dish at dinner. I wanted a little variety though so I went to our website to look for recipes using cantaloupe. There was a recipe for chicken salad served in a cantaloupe half which sounded amazing but I needed something a little more toddler friendly so I kept searching. My efforts paid off as I found a great article on smoothies in the Wellness Center on the site. I decided to give “Melon Magic” a try, with some modifications given what I had on hand of course. Here’s my adapted version: Puree in a blender until smooth: 1 cantaloupe cut into chunks, ½ cup fat free milk, ½ cup fat free plain yogurt, ½ teaspoon vanilla. The girls loved it! What are the fruits you like to blend in a smoothie?

I saw on the Safeway Blog that Safeway has been recycling aluminum cans since the 1970's.  I don't see any evidence that Safeway is recycling aluminum today.  Am I missing something?

Hi Mike, well we don't sell the smoothie in the store, it's actually a recipe for you to try at home.  If you'd like to suggest that we hold these kinds of things in the store, you can still request any suggestions or comments here: http://www.safeway.com/IFL/Grocery/Comments#iframetop
