Cupcakes

35i26EBF9AD4171B05CCupcakes have come a long way since I started in the bakery business. They used to be pretty plain and certainly not very exciting. All that has changed, cupcakes are the hottest thing going right now. From class parties to formal weddings, cupcakes have found their niche. At Safeway, it’s no different. We have about twenty different designs for ‘cupcake’ cakes. That’s where the cupcakes are arranged to form a cake that is then decorated for birthdays, holidays, or other occasions. So stop by your Safeway bakery and take a look at cupcakes. I think you will be impressed with the designs and as always with the quality.

Hi,

I'm going to celebrate my son's birthday at his school, and I'd like to know what is the ingredients list for the cupcakes so that I can share with the rest of the parents. There are several kids with allergies to egg, nuts and gluten, so I want to be clear on what the cupcakes contain. Where can I find that info?

Thanks,

Nora

Hi Nora,

The information you need is on the label of the cupcakes. If you visit your neighborhood Safeway bakery, any of the bakery clerks can show you a label and answer any questions you may have. I do know that all of our cakes and cupcakes contain eggs, and the flour we use does have gluten (a naturally occurring protein in flour). We do not put nuts on cupcakes unless the customer specifically asks for them.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

I had a great cupcake experience at Safeway. A friend of mine makes great custom cakes. I told him what I needed but somehow things got confused. I needed white cake with chocolate frosting but he ended up making an all chocolate cake. When I went to pick up the cake just hours before the party we discovered the error. I knew that I could get cupcakes at Safeway but when I got there, all that was out were Halloween cupcakes. Panicked, I went to the bakery and met Sue who after hearing what happened told me "No Problem" and to wait a few minutes. She made me the most beautiful cupcakes to bring along to the birthday party. Thanks to Sue for saving the day!!

I'm so happy to hear that our bakery was able to help you get the cupcakes you needed for your party. :smileyhappy: Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful story here on our blog.

Best regards,

Hi there - do you have a link where I can look at cupcake and cake designs?

by Kari(anon) on ‎11-30-2010 09:24 PM

It would really be wonderful if you could post your cake and cupcake designs on your website so parents could order them online.   It's so hard to get into the store to order a cake during the week, but I could order it online anytime!

Please consider doing this for those of us with a limited amount of time.

Thank you,

Kari

Patricia and Kari,

Unfortunately, we do not have our cake and cupcake designs online right now, but please check back in the near future.

Thanks!

To save money for my wedding, it was suggested that I have a styrofoam cake decorated and buy a cake at safeway. I was wondering how what kinds of cake and frosting and approxiatley how much it would cost.  It would need to be for 80 people.

Thanks,

Sue

Thanks for the inquiry Sue! We suggest speaking to one of our Bakery Department associates in your local store for assistance regarding pricing and cake options available.

Hi,

I'm going to celebrate my daughter's birthday at her school, and I'd like to know what is the ingredients list for the cupcakes so that I can share with the rest of the parents.  Where can I find that info?

Thanks for the inquiry, Vasanthi. Please email us at safewaysocialmedia@safeway.com with the store location and the type of cupcake you’re referring to. We’d be happy to look into this for you.

How many cupcakes come in the size of a 1/4 sheet cupcake cake vs 1/2 sheet of cupcake cake?  Thanks.

by on ‎03-05-2012 04:02 PM

Sfkris, the ¼ sheet cake size will contain 20 cupcakes. The ½ sheet cake size will contain 26 to 29 cupcakes. We appreciate your inquiry and hope this helps!

My name is Raelle Jones and I am a sophmore at Windsor High School . My core classes are doing a project based on the future career we want. I want to be a cake decorator and was wondering if you would be availiable anytime this weekend for me to ask you a few questions about what you do and more on your experience decorating cakes. I would also like to observe about an hour of your workday. Please let me know if you can do this.

                                                                              Thank You

Thank you for sharing your feedback, Raelle. We suggest that you speak to the Store Manager in your local store location for further assistance to observe one of our Bakery Department team members in action.

I, too, would like to emphasize how wonderful it would be to at least have a catalogue/gallery of cake & cupcake designs on line.  I understand not every store may have all the designs available at any given time, but at least you could see what the different designs were and call around to find it.  It's so inconvenient to have to go to a store to see them, especially if you want to let your child pick his/her design.  Just wish I could show them on-line at home, then pick up the phone and call in an order.

Thanks,

TJ

Hi, TJinSF. That’s a great idea! We’ll forward your suggestion to our Web Designers for consideration. Thank you for your interest!
