Flu Shots & 10% Off Groceries

We are in full swing with our fall routine – school, homework, dance class for the girls, and with back to school comes more germs for all of us. It seems crazy to have to start thinking about the flu shot so early but experts agree that you’re better off if you’re vaccinated before the height of flu season (although it can still help to protect you if you get it later in the season too). Safeway pharmacies have the seasonal flu shots available now and are offering the vaccine on a walk-in basis (some pharmacies will be scheduling clinics so check in your area. Depending on the store and time of day, there may be a slight wait time, similar to the time it takes to get a prescription filled. And, as a thank you for getting your flu shot with Safeway, they will give you a voucher for 10% off your next grocery purchase (must be used within 7 days of issue) along with some high value Super Price Coupons on health related items like facial tissues and hand sanitizer. Convenient, affordable flu shots PLUS bonus Super Price Coupons and a discount off groceries – you’ve got to love that!

What is the price of the flu shots in California?
by tom burdan(anon) on 09-18-2009 06:30 PM

That's all great but I can't seem to find anywhere what a flu shot at Safeway will cost!! I live in San Francisco if that's a consideration. Also, in the promotions for the shot Safeway indicates a 10% discount on food purchases, plus some undisclosed other restrictions on the 10%. And for this set of restrictions, I can find no listing of what they are. Can anyone at Safeway please confirm these issues ***without*** my having to go to the pharmacy to get the information?

Raj,

Check http://www.safeway.com/IFL/Grocery/Flu-Shots for Clinic Times at store pharmacies near you. Participating locations will have 'Flu Shot Clinics' listed as a Current Event. There, you will find a phone number to call for additional information including prices. Hope this helps :smileyhappy:

Tom,

In the Bay area, Flu shots are $30 without insurance, however the prices vary by area and can be effected by insurance. To get the most accurate information, you can contact your local pharmacy via phone for more details. The fastest way to get the phone number for your local pharmacy is with our store locator, found at http://www.safeway.com/IFL/Grocery/Store-Locator. Be sure and select "Pharmacy" from the drop down box!

As far as the 10% off offer, our standard exclusionary items apply to this discount:

Amusement Park Passes, Dry Cleaning, Lottery Tickets, Ski Tickets, Bus Passes or Tokens, Money Orders, Stamps, Club Card Savings, Sales Tax, China Express, CRV (California Redemption Value), Western Union money Transfers, Pharmacy Prescription, Alcohol and Tobacco, Fluid Dairy products (Milk, due to local and federal government regulations), Gift Cards, and Fuel/Gasoline.

Hope this answers your questions.

I am 68 years old and in amazing good health, should I still take the flu shots?  My family say yes, but some of my friends disagree.

Hello,

I'm glad to hear that you are in amazing health!

A flu shot is important for people who are at high risk for getting other health problems from the flu. People age 65 or older are the most likely to have problems from the flu. Having that said, you should definitely always get a doctor's medical opinion on whether or not the flu shot is right for you.

I hope this helps.

Take Care,

Kate
