The girls (and I) love our treats now and then. Finding the “specials” as they are called in our house, that taste like a treat yet don’t compromise our healthy eating guidelines can be tough. One of the first things to go when we started being very careful about our food spending was the 100 calorie pack cookies that I would put in my weekday lunch. For the past few months I substituted with an extra piece of fruit. And while I know it’s healthier, I miss my treat! So, last week I found myself in the cookie aisle looking for a less expensive, better for you cookie option, and found it, sitting quietly on the bottom shelf – graham crackers! Nothing fancy, but good all the same. Also something I can give the girls in their lunches too since their schools are “junk food free zones” which means no cookies, candy, chocolate in any form.
