Imagine that you bought flowers for yourself in our Floral department. You brought the flowers home, cut them at an angle and put them in a vase and were careful not to have foliage in the water. What vase did you use? There are many choices when it comes to selecting vases, urns or vessels as they play an important role in flower containment. Fresh flowers that are arranged well tend to brighten, cheer, freshen and enhance your décor. If you brought home Tulips you would use a completely different vase than if you brought Lilies or Sunflowers. Tulips actually ‘grow’ another inch once cut and placed in your vase. They also stretch towards light! Tulips need room for all this movement. Choose an urn-shaped vase like the one pictured. Remember, change the water often to help them last longer. Be sure to keep your fresh, cut flowers out of heat or sunlight, and check back as I will write again about choosing vases and arranging flowers.
