Just For U Savings Summary on Your Receipt!

Just For U savvy savers, if you haven’t noticed already, take a look, you now have a summary of your Just For U savings on your receipt!  This feature was added based on the feedback you’ve given us on the program – thank you!  You still have your total savings value and percentage too so now you have two ways to see how much you save.  Look for it on your receipt the next time you shop and let us know what you think!

I have some feedback that would be helpful about the Just 4 U program. Once items that are "one time only" are used, they need to be removed from the shopping list. I went to Safeway the other day and was not sure if I had used some of those coupons so I bought them and they did not come up as a discount on my receipt. Since our card is scanned and the discount is taken off, why can't they take it one step further by removing that item from my list or at least updating the status to "used"? Is anyone else having this issue?

Currently, the items will stay on your shopping list until the coupon or offer expires even if it is a one time use coupon. Thank you for your suggestions! We are always looking for feedback on our Just 4 U program.

I really like being able to add coupins to my card, rather than cut and carry them around.  The only thing I do not like is that under my account which is suppose to offer specials and coupons personalized just for me, I am having to surf through pages and pages of products I never buy.  Just one example: I do not have a cat and I do not ever buy dog food at the grocery store, yet a huge percentage of my coupon offers are cat food, litter, dog food and other pet products.  I think my card identity is being shared with the person that lived at my address previously.  Is there any way I can "clean out" my specials so I don't have 9 pages to sort through where only abour 30% of the specials are things I often purchase?

That would be great.

Are there any discounts or special prices that I would not get just by using my Safeway Frequent Shopper Card? In other words, are there Just 4 U savings that would not come up at the register unless i loaded them to my card from the just 4 U website?

I'm having the worst time with this system! Too often, when I try to add new coupons,  I get a message saying Just-for-U isn't available in my area and to check back in 7 days (and I suspect they are just doing maintenance on the system or having an overload, but the system should just say that). Old coupons don't "fall off" the list, and I can't figure out how to remove them. Or the coupons aren't applied when I shop, and even the checkers can't figure out why when I show them my "shopping list" that says I have a coupon (and I'm talking about unlimited coupons, not expired or single use). I learned the hard way that if there are two offers for the same product, I can't choose which coupon is used...nor does the system use the offer with the best price.  I was told the offer/coupon loaded earliest is used and that I should remove old coupons if a better one becomes available. The shopping list of coupons the system generates is unnecessarily long, and I don't like using my color ink for a shopping list, so I'm forced to email the list to myself, transfer it into Word or Excel, and then edit the excess lines/spaces/description/colors out of it. It all takes too long. It's frustrating. I can't count on it. I'd started doing more shopping at my local Safeway because some of "my" prices were as good as the deals I get at a discount supermarket that is a longer drive away, but I'm so frustrated that I am ready to just skip this "just for you" special deal and buy only what is featured in Safeway's circular...going back to the discount supermarket for my "regular" shopping. I think the program is really "not ready for prime time".

Since Safeway's "Just 4 U" promotion started a few months ago, I have had many, upon many unsuccessful attempts to log on and therefore receive many coupon offers, freebies etc...

Finally, today after phoning Safeway's customer service department in Arizona, I was able to log on, however I am still unable to download the following offers:

1.  Coupon Center

2.  Personalized deals

3.  Club specials

I cannot understand why the above 3 coupon windows will not open and therefore will not allow me to download the many promotions to my Safeway Club Card?

Allie, if you are able to log in, but are not able to access these three sections it is likely due to one of two issues. Your club card may not yet be linked to your online account. To check this sign in, then select “My Account” at the top of the screen. If your club card or correct phone number is not listed in this section add them and save your changes. If you have already done this, it is likely an issue with the cookies on your browser. We suggest deleting your cookies, temporary internet files, and browsing history and then trying again. If the issues persist please call us directly at 877SAFEWAY and one of our associates would be happy to help you with this.

Just got home from grocery shopping. I signed up for digital coupons loaded them and went to the store in Glendale. Let's just say only 1 of the coupons worked. There is a great one for Johnsonville Brats but it doesn't work at the store. Very disappointing after I already purchased the brats. Needless to say I returned them and was not offered the coupon price. The customer service desk said they couldn't do anything about the digital coupons. I usually do not shop at Safeway and this doesn't make me want to return anytime soon.

I've been going round and round with the just for U customer service folks.  They just don't get it.  I load the coupons onto my shopping list and when I check out invariably there are items that didn't get reduced to the price on my just for u list.  I then go directly over to the customer service desk, they take one look and refund me the overcharge.  If you offer the items and I buy the selected items I should receive the discount as stated on my Just for U list. 

For example, I purchase Air Wick Scented Oil Refills 2-Ct.  my club price as listed on my just for u list is 2.85, but everytime I purchase safeway charges me 5.69.  Not sure what's up with that - but they tell me i'm ineligible to receive this discount. Why?  My solution is to continue to go directly to the customer service desk and get my refund.  Good luck folks -- get the system is still in transition.

I have a very hard time getting into the portion of the site thAT allows me to put coupons and deals on my card.  I would suggest a bigger server.  It makes me not want to do it.

I agree with some of the other shoppers that one-time items should be removed from the list once they are used.  It's hard to remember if the item was already purchased, especially if you have more than one person in your household doing the shopping.

We’re sorry to hear you’ve been having this trouble Sue. If the discounts are “digital coupons” from the Coupon Center, they are one time use and cannot be used more than once. If they are “personalized deals” they should work every time as long as you are purchasing the correct variety. If it is a “personalized deal” and you are purchasing the correct item please email us at safewaysocialmedia@safeway.com with additional details and your club card number so we can look up your account and investigate this issue further.

My account works fine except I have no personalized deals (except the free eggs, which I haven't gotten yet). Do I need to get my free eggs first for it to work?

 

I did email safeway, they said they sent it to their research department. No word back yet. Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem or if I am missing something simple. I have cleared cookies, etc. Have had account for about 2 weeks.

 

On a side note, is there a way to delete coupons from your shopping list if I am no longer interested?

At this time, there is not a way to remove coupons from your shopping list. However, you can uncheck the items if you don’t want them added to the shopping list you print. I am having a terrible time trying to change the store address on my Safeway Just for U site.

I live near the Safeway at 4950 Mission St, San Francisco, but Safeway shows 4950 Almaden Expressway, San Jose instead.  If you notice, the numbers are the same, but they are most certainly not in the same city. (like 50 miles away!)

I have sent 4 e-mails, called 3 times and even brought my problem to the Manager at my store. 

My biggest concern is I can't take advantage of personalized deals due to they are based on the wrong store, and San Francisco and San Jose stores don't have the same sales.  I lose out on coupons.

Anyone else having this problem?  And if so did you get it fixed??  I'm really frustrated.

I really like the JustforU plan, however, on Monday morning (Mar 28, 2011) I loaded a number of free items to my club card, that afternoon I went to the market and although they did not ring up correctly the staff checked my justforu account and verified the items and gave me the discounts for the items I was purchasing. Tuesday, all of the free items that I did NOT get have now disappeared from my "shopping list" (they were not due to expire until the end of April I believe) including the save $10 off any purchase of $50 or more. Will these items reappear on my card? I have been very happy with the program so far, I am hoping all the glitches get worked out soon. I have emailed web.comments and safewaysocialmeda and have not gotten any responses, and I do have a printout of my "shopping list" for that day showing all of the items that have vanished. Any ideas or explanations of what might have gone wrong?

Kim, within the Coupon Center, digital coupons that are for Safeway branded items are considered store coupons. Digital coupons for national brands are considered manufacturer coupons and can not be stacked with paper manufacturer coupons. There is an occasional exception to this if the coupon for the national brand item is advertised as a "Super Coupon" in the weekly ad. In this case the coupon is a store coupon and may be stacked with a paper manufacturer coupon. Unfortunately at this time this additional label is not included in the listing within the Coupon Center. You may check for Super Coupons online by viewing the weekly ad at http://www.safeway.com/IFL/Grocery/Weekly-Specials.

The just for you deal at Safeway is a joke. I have been logging onto my Safeway account to look at my personalized deals; and they are not there. I get the coupons and I get the club specials - but nothing shows on my personalized deals. I cannot even add items. Before I was able to add items that was August - and those deals have expired - I tried to add more personalized deals - but I cannot do so - maybe Safeway does not have any offers to give me - but that can't be right. Who knows?

Why can't safeway just email us receipts?   Link our email address to our clubcard and give us the option to email the reciept? If you still want a paper print out you can ask for one too.  But this would save so much paper, and BPA residue on my fingers and ink, and it would save time and money. 

 

Also if emailed, then there isn't such a space constraint, so you can have more itemized list of the items you purchased including the UPC label, and the name, so it is easier to identify EXACTLY what you purchased, instead of trying to learn the shorthand receipt language, that is oh so confusing.

It would be nice if you need to print your Just For You List, if you could at least add items so you have one complete list for everything.

 

Also, I've only tried my just for you coupons once with a few trial items, but noticed several of the items were not even carried in the store. That was really dissapointing.

I've experienced the unfortunate situation where I find out my Just 4 U discount does not apply AFTER I've checked out. The clerk can do nothing but apologize and give lame excuses. I see the same thing happening on this blog site. "Sorry to hear you're having trouble". What's the point of joining Just 4 U? Next time I will hold everything up at the check-out stand by returning all the "un-discounted" items and get my money back. I'll make sure to apologize to the waiting customers behind me. How long do you think their customers will put up with this?

 

After filing a complaint with Safeway, I still have not received a response.

This new just 4 you might work for some but not me. I dont like the fact that I must log in to get the sale prices. This might work for those who are Safeway fans I am not. I dont in once in a while and ususally pick up a few items, but I will not do that any more. To much of a hassle to log in. Guess give us the good prices like IGA Roths without all the extra crap.....

Not having much luck with the Just 4 u program, and it looks like I'm not alone...it's been a hassle trying to get it to work, and now I find that the offers I am getting are for the wrong store, so--no discount for me.  What a waste of time.

The store that is listed as "MY" store is NOT the store where I shop.  It IS the store that delivers to my house, though.  I don't SHOP at that store, because I'd have to drive right by the Safeway store where I DO shop, 1/2 mile from my house.  Why am I limited to only one store?  I also travel, and I do a lot of grocery shopping in another state--and, as it happens, the Safeway there is right across the street from my place of business, yet no Just 4u deals for me.  Maybe this was a good idea, but it sure hasn't done anything for me...not even keep 3 or for people at Safeway pestering me to join Just 4 u every time I enter the store.....

I have a family of 5 and have been a Safeway shopper for several years.  This "Just for U" program is causing me to move my loyalty to another store.  Every single time I come home and check my receipt, there are items priced incorrectly and coupons not applied.  Since it never amounts to more than a few dollars each time, I never bother to return to make a stink about it since it doesn't appear to be the store's fault anyway.  I feel like I am investing way too much time playing "super sleuth" to find the mistakes and frankly, I am sick of it.  The deals in the circular aren't nearly as good as they used to be before this program was introduced, I suppose to encourage people to sign up for the program.  I'm not really sure what the program's benefit to Safeway is, but the detriment will surely be a loss of customers like myself!

Let's cut to the chase here...........whoever came up with the "Just 4 U" program should be F-I-R-E-D !!!

 

1.  The server is never up so I can waste my time clicking on endless items just to have the discounts NOT appear on my sales slip.

 

2.  I don't want to hold up the line at the Customer Service Counter so I check these things at home and waste more of my time finding the errors.  These errors add up and make me so furious that I keep trying a program that CLEARLY DOES NOT WORK and is not supported adequately by Safeway.

 

3.  Calling in to the Customer Service line wastes more of my time on hold.....usually 7-21 minutes....yes, I kept track.  The good people there are trying very hard but have NO SOLUTIONS but to go to the Customer Service Counter in the store or refund my money which should not have been taken in the first place.

 

Can't anyone at Safeway see THIS PROGRAM IS A DOG before someone really gets tee-d off and contacts the Attorney General?  Hey, maybe that might be a good use of my time instead of chasing the illusion of savings that never materialize. 

 

Also the gas rewards counter on the screen doesn't even match what is printed on my sales slip.  Has anyone ever heard the words.......D A T A   I N T E G R I T Y  ???

I hate the just for you program!  I don't have time to go on line every week and download the coupons. I am so tired of the gimmicks, cards, coupons, etc.  Why can't you just lower the price and save the advertising dollars?  I love the fact that Albertson's has discontinued the card.  If they would just do away with the coupons, I would shop their store all the time!
