New Year’s Resolutions

The list could go on forever and has been fairly consistent over the past few years – eat more healthfully, exercise more often, focus on enjoying the moment, patience with the kids,  and look for ways to reduce our impact on the environment to name a few.   I have a few specific goals as well - running at least two half marathons and reading more than one book a year.  It sounds ridiculous but with everything we have going on it’s impossible to sit and read anything more than an article or two at a time, let alone a full chapter that requires my dedicated attention.  I would love nothing more than to spend a couple of hours with a good book in a coffee shop every once in a while - somehow I have to find a way to make this happen in 2009!

Hey, Kate!

Last year I actually completed TWO resolutions I wrote for myself in 2008.  I wanted to take more weekend trips and lose weight.  I lost 23 lbs over the summer and by the end of summer took at least a dozen weekend trips.  I'm excited I did it!

I started my 2009 list earlier in December. New on my list are to focus on one of my newer hobbies so that I can improve my skills and have fresh flowers around the house more often.

I'll still work on my weight as I have 15 more pounds to my goal weight, and I'd like to take more weekend trips but this time more with my husband. LOL!!  In '08 it was a mix of a bunch of people including my kids and girlfriends and family.

Good luck on your reading!  There are soooo many good books out there!

Resolutions are good to make but hard to sustain. Last year I had three: Find a dentist and have my teeth checked out, become more green, and drink more water. I found the dentist and everything was great. I used energy effecient bulbs, turned down the thermostate, bought and used reusable grocery bags and stopped buying bottled water. Thus the water resolution did not quite work out.

The trick is picking some things you know you will be successful at and then one hard one. That way you have some success. Water is on TAP this year again.

Have a good one!

My resolution is to maintain the weight loss that I achieved last year.
