I found myself in a bind last week with no time to get to the store and friends coming over for dinner on Saturday night. And even though this was going to be “an easy family potluck” there was still a lot that needed to be done. As my mind starting working the details of the sequence of activities that needed to take place across the week I was reminded about the precision with which we manage our lives just to get through a “regular week” - multiply that by three when we want to do something “out of the ordinary” like a casual dinner with friends! Anyway, with Max out Friday night with his friends, taking Maddy to a friend’s company “family day” Saturday morning, and our friends coming over in the afternoon on Saturday I was feeling trapped by my two unattractive options: an uncomfortably early shopping trip Thursday night or one on Friday or Saturday with the kids. And then I had one of those “a ha moments” – grocery delivery! I could order during the week and have my groceries delivered on Friday night – what a relief (for everyone)!
