On-line coupons for Meat, Produce, Bakery, Deli

During my last business trip I was surprised to hear a shopper, who loves & uses coupons every time she shops, express frustration that stores don’t offer coupons for meat and produce.   She obviously had not been to our website to check out the on-line coupons!   She couldn’t have been happier when we told her that she could find coupons for our fresh departments on our website.   So I wanted to mention it again for those who might be reading this blog for the first time.   We regularly offer online coupons (that you print and bring to the store) formeat, produce, deli, floral, and bakery, plus all the categories you usually see (cereal, juice, etc.).  If you’ve been reading this blog you know that I’m a “clicker and a clipper”, using whatever coupons I can get my hands on to save some money.  Savings usually add up to $5 - $10 a week – that’s easily over $250 a year!

Where do you find these coupons on your website?
by on ‎05-08-2009 09:55 AM
Hi Stacey, You can access http://www.safeway.com/IFL/Grocery/Coupons for the coupons. There are some that you can print and take to the store and others that you can load to your club card. I hope that helps. Thanks for reading!

Hello Kate,

I am a serious couponer in the South and I am headed to Washington and Alaska for the summer.  I was looking for Safeway's coupon policy.  Any help?

I have a Safeway card from last time I was there and saw that I can load coupons on to it.  I saw that Safeway accepts printable coupons because they are on the site.  I guess that just leaves doubling coupons, combining a manufacture coupon with a store coupon and/or accepting competitor coupons.  Do you know where I can find that information out?

Thanks,

Susan

Hi Susan, you can find coupon information here http://www.safeway.com/IFL/Grocery/Coupons.  You can combine a manufacture coupon with a store coupon but unfortunately, we do not accept competitor’s coupons at this time.  I hope this helps.  Have fun on your trip!

I went to safeway today to get my son's first birthday cake.  The lady behind the counter told me that if I bring in the online coupon we get a small cake for my son for free.  I can't find the coupon anywhere!  Can you help me find it?  Have you heard of it?

by on ‎02-08-2010 02:22 PM

Teira,

We offer the baby's first birthday cake with the purchase of a quarter sheet or larger cake, so baby get's their very own cake. It is a petite cake decorated like a baby block. Most customers will receive a coupon in the mail, but if you don't, you can still get your free cake by mentioning it when you order your quarter sheet or larger. Presently the coupon is not on Safeway.com, but I will be speaking with some of our advertising people to find out if that is an option. So stop by your neighborhood Safeway bakery and order your quarter sheet or larger birthday cake and mention the baby's first birthday block cake and get ready to take some great video's of your son "digging" in to his very own first birthday cake.

Kate,

Did something change in Safeway's coupon policy? I read above where you say you can combine a Safeway store coupon with a Manufacturer coupon. Yesterday I was denied doing that and when I called Safeway customer service, they said that is a fact that you cannot combine those two.

Confused!

by on ‎02-22-2010 11:37 AM

We apologize for the inconvenience. You may use 1 manufacture coupon, 1 store coupon and your digital coupon(s) or any combination there of, for 1 item. You may not use 2 manufacture or 2 store coupons for one item.  If the amounts of your single or combined coupons exceed the amount of the product we will not give you funds back, and the store is permitted to decline to accept the coupon. See your store manager for further details. ~Kate

I was in my Safeway today to order my son's first birthday cake and didn't have a coupon, but had seen this blog.  I mentioned it to the lady in the bakery and she told me that without a coupon, I could not get the cake (actually, I could, but would have to pay $6.99).  Knowing that an option of getting it free, I didn't want to have to by the sheet cake and the small block.  My son's birthday is a week away and I really want to get this cake for him.  Do you have any suggestions at what I could try?

Thanks!!

Hi Kelsey,

We offer the baby's first birthday cake with the purchase of a quarter sheet or larger cake, so baby get's their very own baby block cake.  Most customers will receive a coupon in the mail, but if you don't, you can still get your free cake by mentioning it when you order your quarter sheet or larger. Your store manager should be aware of this offer, so mention to the manager that you saw the offer on the Safeway website. For the babies first birthday cake program it is a requirement that you receive the coupon from Safeway. To do so please call 1-877-723-3929 and have a customer service rep fill out a request for and the coupon will be mailed to you within 10 days or so. not all stores are honoring the requests for the cakes without this coupon.

I am a new Safeway shopper now that I have learned to use coupons with the sales and am so impressed with the savings I have found over other stores.  Now that I have found this VERY helpful and informative blog, I am even more excited to share how awesome I think Safeway is!  Just wanted to say thank you for your time!

We offer the baby's 1st birthday cake with the purchase of a quarter sheet or larger cake, so baby get's their very own baby block cake.  Most customers will receive a coupon in the mail, but if you don't, you can still get your free cake by mentioning it when you order your quarter sheet or larger. Hello I went into the bakery yesterday to order my babys first birthday cake and i asked the lady about the free cake and she told me the only way to get the free cake is with the coupon i didnt order because i was looking online for the coupon but i cant find it. How do i go about getting the free cake without the coupon? You said you didnt need it and to just mention it but that didnt work

by on ‎06-08-2010 12:12 PM

Hello Karolin,

I’m sorry to hear for your trouble. If you would like to request the coupon, you can call our customer service center at 1-877-723-3929. Our customer service reps have access to the form that needs to be filled out to request the free cake coupon; which will be mailed to you. If the timeline is too tight to wait for the coupon by mail, you can request that our customer service reps contact the Store Manager on your behalf and request that the promotion be honored.

Let me know how this works out for you.

Thanks.

quick question, I just got a 10 off $50 purchase in my local paper for Safeway, this coupon states after club card and store coupons... does this then mean as I take it to, that it is $50 before my manufacturer coupons?  This is always how it has been redeemed for me until lately when my local Safeway started coming up with some "interesting" new "rules" (as in they won't take a manufacturer coupon if you have e-coupons come off, and they won't take internet coupons).  Just want to clarify before I plan a big shopping trip so as to reduce any hassles!  Thanks so much for your help~ Jana

Hello Jana,

Our official Coupon Acceptance Policy can be found on our official web site at http://www.safeway.com/IFL/Grocery/Coupons-Policy. In addition, according to our policies, the minimum purchase amount is based upon total purchases after your Club Card discount is applied and before manufacturer coupons are applied. This can be found on our web site at http://www.safeway.com/IFL/Grocery/Smart-Savings-Tips. We apologize for any confusion.

If you have any further questions, we encourage you to contact our toll free number at 877-723-3929. One of our associates will be happy to assist you further.

Thank you.

by Jenny (anon) on ‎04-01-2011 08:42 AM

Hi Kate -

I tried to use a (1) store coupon with (1) manufacturers coupon for (1) Enfamil Infant Formula.  The cashier told me that I couldn't stack the too coupons.  Then when I requested for the manager, he said the same thing.  I read and re-read the Safeway coupon policy but it does not specifically state the policy for this, or maybe I am just going blind.  Could you please direct me to the correct policy or wording?  I'd like to know if i could infact do this, as other retails like Target let you, or if they are correct and that I cannot use both.

I read your answers to earlier questions and I know you've already specified but I was wondering if it was somewhere in black and white.

Thank you,

Jen

by on ‎04-12-2011 09:43 AM

Jenny, a customer may use one manufacturer coupon and one store coupon on the same item. You can contact our customer service center by calling 877SAFEWAY and one of our associates would be happy to make sure your concerns are sent to the correct store.

This was actually the first time that i was told that. But i was really upset when she added to her comment that safeway had to make money and with people like me truing to stack on copouns that was imposible. As you will imagine i was super embarrased

Hi i was woundering if u put coupons on ur club card, can u use the same coupons printed. I didnt really understand the coupon policy. And can u double manufactured coupons.
by on ‎10-27-2011 10:42 AM

Nena, if the digital coupon and the paper coupon are the same coupon (ie both manufacturer coupons) they can not be applied to the same item. However, you may use both coupons if you are purchasing the same number of items as coupons you are redeeming so only one coupon is applying to each individual item. You may use one manufacturer coupon and one store coupon per item. Our double coupon policies vary by region. The best way to ensure you have the most accurate information on double coupons for your local store is to speak with the manager the next time you shop. We hope this helps clear this up.

by Jordyn(anon) on ‎11-14-2011 09:59 PM
Are The coupons in the coupon center of the safeway website where you load them to your club card manufacturer coupons or store coupons?
by on ‎11-15-2011 11:13 AM

Hi Jordyn, within the Coupon Center, digital coupons that are for Safeway branded items are considered store coupons. Digital coupons for national brands are considered manufacturer coupons and cannot be stacked with paper manufacturer coupons. There is an occasional exception to this if the coupon for the national brand item is advertised as a "Super Coupon" in the weekly ad. In this case, the coupon is a store coupon and may be stacked with a paper manufacturer coupon. Unfortunately, at this time this additional label is not included in the listing within the Coupon Center. You may check for Super Coupons online by viewing the weekly ad at http://www.safeway.com/IFL/Grocery/Weekly-Specials. Hope this helps!

I was at the Cottage Grove, OR store yesterday and the checker refused to use my $1 off manufacturer coupons as that would have given me a great than 50% off savings.  I don't see anything about this on your current coupon policy on your website.  Is this true or was the checker missinformed?  If so, what is the purpose of this limitation?  Safeway receives reimbursement from the manufacturer, so why the concern?

by on ‎01-09-2012 10:44 AM

Thank you for your inquiry, Jamisb. According to our Coupon Policy, coupons can be accepted up to the price of the item.  We will contact the Store Manager about this matter right away.  Can you email us at safewaysocialmedia@safeway.com with your contact information?  We apologize for any inconvenience you have experienced.

by Lyndsey(anon) on ‎06-21-2012 07:42 AM

Hi Kate-Mom,

I read your comment above regarding a baby's 1st birthday block cake with your purchase of a 1/4 sheet or larger cake.  Unfortunately it is not as easy as you explained it to be.  I went to my local Safeway in Foster City, purchased a 1/2 sheet cake with "Happy 1st birthday" to be written on the cake.  I mentioned the free block cake for my son and the woman explain I needed a coupon.  Not knowing how or where I could get a coupon I went onto your blog and saw your posting.  I called the Sfaeway again and spoke to the manager who told me that the bakery manager says I needed to bring in his birth certificate in order to get the cake.  At first I was ok with it, but then talking to all my friends and family that have gotten the free cake they never needed to present a coupon or a birth certificate.  I do not feel like I should be treated any differently.  I do not keep my sons birth certificate at home (I keep it somewhere safe) so if it's that big of a deal for safeway to make a small cake for my son then I'll make it myself.  Sorry just frustrated :/

by on ‎06-21-2012 03:15 PM

Hi Lyndsey, we apologize for any inconvenience. Please email us at safewaysocialmedia@safeway.com with these details and your contact information. We'd like to look into this for you. We look forward to hearing from you!

Hi Kate I was just wondering about this coupon you are supposed to receive in the mail for the free petite cake.  I just found out about it over the weekend when i went to order my daughters 1st birthday cake.  (her birthday is this friday) Is there a way to possibly get it online or email and take it to the store with her birth certificate? Any help would be appreciated.  I wish I would have known sooner.

by on ‎08-30-2012 08:24 AM

Belle, if you could contact us at safewaysocialmedia@safeway.com with the store location you visit most frequently, we’d be happy to assist you with the Baby’s First Birthday Cake.
