Thanksgiving Plan

Now that Halloween and the twins’ birthday have passed I can start thinking about Thanksgiving!  With our families out of state Max and I usually get together with a group of friends.  This year was looking like it was going to be just us which was kind of bumming me out  - whether you cook for 5 or cook for 15 the amount of effort is the same and it’s much more fun to have others pitching in and enjoying it all with you!   Location is still tbd as the planners of our group have all been a little crazed (this we have come to realize is the norm.)  As much as I’d love to host, it would also be really nice to have to just make a couple of dishes.  Regardless, I’m going to have to manage my time well this year as one of my college friends (Linda) and her family will be coming through town the day before and will be staying with us so I won’t have what has traditionally been one of my big prep evenings.

Kate, can you get the webmaster of the Best Ever Thanksgiving site to upload or create a printable version of the turkey timing chart?  That's a reference I want to hold on to.

Sorry if this is the wrong forum for such a request.

Thanks,

Reagan

The Safeway 2-hour turkey recipe calls for a thawed frozen turkey.  Is there any reason it has to start off frozen since it gets thawed before cooking?  (Their FAQs didn't address this issue.)  Has anyone tried it with a fresh turkey?  I always find when I thaw a turkey I still have ice crystals in the cavity (could be impatience or poor planning), so I've turned to using fresh turkeys.
