Watermelon

july wk 28 watermelon.jpgWho doesn’t love a sweet, juicy watermelon on a hot summer day? Watermelon is certainly a fan favorite with our family- I know my kids (and my grandson, too) could eat it just about everyday. More watermelons are sold during the Independence Day weekend than the rest of the entire year, yet these big beauties are actually available year-round. Last year, four billion pounds of watermelons were produced in the United States alone, and Americans consumed 13 pounds of watermelon per person. That is a lot of watermelon!

Select a firm, symmetrical watermelon that is free of bruises, cuts and dents. Turn the melon over, if the underside is yellow, and the rind has an overall healthy sheen, the watermelon is probably ripe. Select melons that are heavy for their size. There are so many great ways to enjoy watermelon. My favorite way is eating it from a great, big slice. Enjoy a juicy watermelon during these hot summer days!

This was the WORST experience we ever had going to a grocery store.Your cashier Brian was VERY RUDE, he slammed our groceries around and made US feel intimidated. Since my wife use to like your stores we went to your Safeway store #1800 (20685 SW Roy Rogers Rd, Sherwood, OR 97140) BRIAN shouldn't be treating your customers like that. These was the 2nd time we went to that particular store and WILL NEVER GO BACK because of how we were treated. There's always a Fred Meyer store around that we can go to and they treat their customers RIGHT. Just so you know who served us yesterday 7/28/11 at 8:12p.m. The reference no. is 110728201224 and trace # 0001485124 .  I hope you re train this particular employee Brian AGAIN or FIRE him. You should train your employees BETTER! I am a Veteran and I am very proud to say that I SERVED this country twice in combat, me and and my wife should not be treated this way, a little respect would be nice.
